Hello all. First of all a little news for you if you have not learned of this already... the fractal community has a new Community Volunteer in the form of Silvia C-91 :iconc-91:
If you have any suggestions for activities, special features or artworks you feel deserve a Daily Deviation (Fractal galleries only) then do get in touch with her!

Congratulations, Silvia!

:spotlight-left: November 2014 Challenges :spotlight-right:

On to this month's business!... during the course of November we have a further two challenges for you to try your hand at. You may enter up to SIX images in total in any combination you wish to the two challenges (but no more than four to any one of the three subjects please).

Challenge 1: Grand Midget Hunt Challenge

For this challenge we would like you to try zooming into the Mandelbrot Set to find some Midgets (mini-Mandelbrot figures). To help you find and colour them I have written a special tutorial on the subject which you can download here:

This will show you the basics of finding Midgets and the best colourings to use as well as providing a few hints and tips to help you on your way. It also includes a number of links to some fantastic resources where you can learn so much more and find some great parameters to study.

To give you an idea of the sort of thing we are looking for here are some examples from DA's fractal gallery:

:bulletblack: Cold Colors by theslider :bulletblack:

:bulletblack: :thumb490246285:  :bulletblack: Mandelbrot 89 - Sun drop - by Olbaid-ST  :bulletblack: Untitled 6 by Meztli72 :bulletblack:

:bulletblack: :thumb161768067:  :bulletblack: Another Mandelbrot Zoom 3 by Stevi0d  :bulletblack: Green Area by denise-g :bulletblack:

:bulletgreen: What we are looking for in this challenge are images which clearly show a miniature Mandelbrot shape somewhere in the picture. It can be small or large but the Midget MUST be visible otherwise we will have to decline your entry. Image imports and mappings/transforms are not allowed. Other than that you have a free hand to do whatever you like with your image.
:bulletgreen: We strongly encourage all of you to generously share your work by publishing your parameters for all to learn from but this is not compulsory. If the parameters are not publicly available then you will need to send them in to the group privately by note before your entry is approved for the gallery.
:bulletgreen: Please read the full rules lower down carefully - they should answer any questions you may have, if not then do please ask!

Challenge 2:  Music and Peace Challenge

For this freestyle challenge we would like to see your interpretation of either of these two subjects:
- Option A: Paint us your favourite piece of music.
- Option B: Paint us A Feeling of Peace

:bulletgreen: Use your imagination and your own artistry to create images depicting either of these subjects. The only restriction is that you do not use image imports. All other facilities in UF can be used.
:bulletgreen: You must mention in your artist's comments which subject (Music or Peace) your entry is for. It would be nice if you could also add a few words to explain what your image symbolises or what it means to you but you do not have to if you do not wish to do so.
:bulletgreen: If you wish to share your parameters publicly then that would be great but you do not have to if you do not wish to do so.
:bulletgreen: Please read the full rules lower down carefully - they should answer any questions you may have, if not then do please ask!

General Challenge Rules

:bulletred: NO huge/ugly watermarks (that includes the DA watermark) and frames should be simple and unobtrusive.
:bulletred: You MUST be a member of Ultra-Fractal-Redux to participate and may enter up to FOUR different images into the two challenge folders over the month (any combination). Images must have been created on or after November 1st 2014. One entry may be exchanged if you think you have produced something better than something you already entered. Note us to arrange this. Please do not send notes to the admins.
:bulletred: The challenge starts on the 1st and runs through to the end of the month.
:bulletred: Post your image into either the Nov 2014 Grand Midget Hunt Challenge folder or the Nov 2014 Music and Peace Challenge folder in the gallery.
Six images in total allowed, any combination... but no more than four to any one of the three challenge themes please: Midget/Music/Peace.
:bulletred: For Midget Hunt images you MUST note this group with your Parameter set for checking OR make the parameters publicly available in your artist comments or Sta.sh. This is compulsory as we need to check your work abides by the challenge rules.
:bulletred: As always, only formulas from the Public Formulary are acceptable for the challenge.
:bulletred: A link to this journal or at least the name of the group MUST be included in your artists comments, i.e.

"My entry for the :iconultra-fractal-redux: November 2014 Grand Midget Hunt (or Music or Peace) Challenge"  [Add link to this journal if you can]
You may if you wish, add the thumb of the journal itself. This would be much appreciated!

We hope you will all enjoy this challenge and look forward to seeing your entries. Have fun!!

I rather use Kalles Fraktaler to explorer and render escape time fractals. See for example the following image (following a subset of the Grand Midget Hunt Challenge):
