green. KLEIN FESTIVAL CHALLENGE green.

:new: UPDATE, JULY 2nd:
Otto has very kindly reinstated three deleted Klein formulas in om.ufm. So I recommend you all update your formulas so that you can play with any of the thirteen Klein formulas now available to you! I have updated the illustration below to show you what is now available.
In addition, I have added a link to the parameters for a key layer from one of my recent images if any of you needs something to start with. Please click on the last image shown below for this.

Hello fractallers,

Well, June is now over and another challenge concluded. Thank you all for submitting your Fibonacci Julia image entries during June, it looks like you all had a good look at the parameters and came up with some creative and lovely results. Well done all of you!

For July we have cooked up something slightly different for our monthly challenge and are giving you a choice of formulas to play with! We would like you to explore any of the Klein formulas to be found in om.ufm. These have been added to the database in recent months by :iconottomagusdigitalart: and look very promising.

You'll find that om.ufm has a very large number of formulas so I suggest you narrow the field by searching for "Klein" within that formula file. This should display thirteen different Klein formulas like so:

You can choose any of these formulas for your image, just make sure the same formula is on most or all of your layers. It pays to really play around and explore the parameters of these as initially they don't always look very promising, so don't give up too soon when you first load one up! And if you are submitting more than one image you are free to choose a different Klein for any of your other images if you like. The choice is yours just don't mix different formulas in the same image.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to these formulas there are a few Klein colourings in om.ucl too. These are probably written to work nicely with their formula counterparts so be sure to check these out as well (though you are not required to use them for the challenge if you don't want to). These are as follows:

Finally, if that's not enough Kleinian goodness for you there are also a number of Klein transforms you can use as well if you want to! These can be found in both om.uxf and reb.uxf. You really are spoiled for choice with all these possibilities!

To whet your appetite here are a few images created with Klein formulas:

You may enter up to FOUR images to this challenge and you MUST include a link to this journal or to the group in your comments.

As usual we have a few general but simple rules you must follow - please review these before submitting. The rules are listed below.

At the end of the challenge we will ask the members to vote on their three favourite images with the top three or four images featured in a follow-up journal approximately one week later (or maybe more images will be featured if we have a big turn out). This is just a fun part of the exercise, if your image is not highlighted it does not mean it is without merit, most images get at least one vote! There are no prizes, we are just doing this for the practice, for inspiration, for fun and for helping others learn from shared parameters. A community venture, freely done for everyone to benefit from so have fun and be generous and share wherever you can!

Challenge Rules - Please read these carefully.

:bulletgreen: Submissions need to use any one of the ten Klein Julia formula in om.ufm on most if not all layers.
You may use different formulas on different images if you wish but you must not use more than one in the same image.
:bulletgreen: Images must be new and uploaded to DA on or after: 1st July 2016. The challenge ends on 31st July 2016.
:bulletgreen: You may enter up to FOUR images to this challenge. If you have any problems please note the group, not the admins.
:bulletgreen: Please mention this challenge and add a link to this journal -OR- our group icon in your comments: :iconultra-fractal-redux:
:bulletgreen: Submit your entry to the Challenge Folder: LINK. You need to be a group member to do this.

:bulletred: NO huge/ugly watermarks (that includes the DA watermark) and frames should be simple and unobtrusive.
:bulletred: NO Fractal Manipulations are allowed.
:bulletred: Minimal post-work only allowed (such as enhancing colours, sharpening and adding a signature or very simple border).

We encourage you to share your parameters publicly if you can, as part of the ethos of this group.
A tutorial on how to store your parameters in your DA Sta.sh area can be found: Here
As always, only formulas from the Public database are acceptable if you intend to share your parameters.

Questions or don't understand something? Please ask first as we do not wish to offend or upset anyone (and ourselves) by refusing an entry.

We look forward to seeing your entries. Happy fractalling!
