Last month we had an open gallery for your December/Christmas/New Year fractals - thank you for submitting some lovely festive images! This journal is not intended to be a feature as such but I would like to include a small selection here. There are many more in the Fractals for December 2016 gallery these are just the ones I personally found particularly cheerful and seasonal:

January 2017 Challenge - Painting with Rainbows

With the start of a new month we have another challenge for you. It's a fairly easy one this time - we are going all multi-coloured and asking for you to come up with some rainbow coloured fractals. The style and content of your images is up to you, the only requirement is for the colours to clearly show at least five of the colours of the rainbow:
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Indigo
  • Violet
Please don't submit images with just a couple of colours or work that is so dark the individual colours cannot be distinguished.
If we can't see and name at least five of the seven colours above then your work WILL be declined.

Bright and cheeful works would be lovely - we want to see lots of rainbow colours filling up a beautiful gallery! Your images can be bold and colourful or use soft pastel shades, whatever you like. To aid you with this challenge I have prepared a gradient pack for you to use if you wish - 24 beautiful rainbow gradients you can install to your gradient folder. You don't have to use these this is just my little gift to you, to use as you wish:

This isn't the only gradient pack available, here are two other packs by aartika-fractal-art you might like to look at:

:lightbulb: Ideas for using these gradients (or rainbow colours of your own) include:
  • Use iteration colouring to colour successive trap shapes with a different colour.
Some colourings include iteration colouring options or, for plugin style fractals, you can use a plugin like REB Iteration in the Trap Color Mode slot
  • Use rainbow colours in or across the background
  • Use a Pixel formula with Gradient colouring (standard.ucl) on the Outside tab to apply rainbow colours across the whole image
  • Use rainbow colours along a ribbon shape
  • Use a Smooth Colouring layer to apply a pretty rainbow gradient to all your spiral forms
Some of these applications can be seen in the images below:
